When the guy on the radio made that announcement at 6:15 this morning, it was like having someone knock on the door with a batch of cookies, eight hours, a pile of books, and a warm blanket all wrapped up in a bow.
Snow Day Reading:
Me: LEEPIKE RIDGE and THE WILD GIRLS.
E: ME AND THE PUMPKIN QUEEN
J: LIFE AS WE KNEW IT
DH: Working because meteorologists don’t get snow days :^(
I loved snow days when I was a teacher.
As a mom, I only like it if there’s really good sled-worthy, snowman-worthy snow, which doesn’t happen very often around here. A lot of our snow days are slush days because our school district has a lot of rural areas but we are in town, so we’re clear but the country roads are not, and so we’re off, but with no good snow to play in.
Are you going to go out and play in the snow?
It’s bare foot weather here, so I was wondering if you would mind making a snow angel for me? And, umm, those cookies look delicious!! *snatches a tiny piece from the one on the top left*
a tiny piece, you say?
Hee hee …
Kate, do you alternate the books every hour or so, or do you pick one and dive into it??
Re: a tiny piece, you say?
HEY!! Put that cookie back! LOL! (My kids often complain that my “tiny” bites of their desserts look just like this!)
I finished LEEPIKE RIDGE and then had THE WILD GIRLS standing by so I wouldn’t have to get up from under the blanket. It’s chilly here…
Our snow was a little slushy & sleety today, too, but the kids managed to eek out a snowman and a couple tiny forts anyway.
I’m so jealous. We got mostly rain.
When I was growing up, everyone told me I would outgrow my love for snow. I haven’t yet.
hope you like WILD GIRLS!
also – i can’t imagine reading LIFE AS WE KNEW IT while in snowstorm. SCARY!
This just cracked me up:
DH: Working because meteorologists don’t get snow days.
Re: a tiny piece, you say?
Blankies and books and cookies and wonderful company … sounds like a perfect snow day 🙂
I still love snow, too — and I’m doubly insane. I love it when it gets below zero so the lake freezes. I want to skate!
Loved WILD GIRLS. And I would have freaked out reading LIFE AS WE KNEW IT in a snowstorm (come to think of it, the book freaked me out anyway). J is very level-headed, though, and often reminds me when I cry reading sad parts that it’s just made up. I hate that…
It’s doubly unfair — we get the day off and he has to go to work early.
