Author Rob Vlock has donated a full manuscript critique with a 30-minute phone consultation. Rob writes fun, funny, fast-paced kids’ books that are perfect for reluctant readers. When he’s not writing, you can usually find him somewhere in the greater Boston area trying to make his trumpet sound like something other than a dying goose. It’s a work in progress. His first kids’ book, SVEN CARTER AND THE TRASHMOUTH EFFECT (Aladdin/Simon & Schuster) comes out October 3, 2017. And look for Sven and his friends to return for book #2 in Fall 2018. Author Robin Newman has donated an in-person author visit anywhere in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut OR one 30 minute Skype visit. Winner will also receive 5 copies each of The Case of the Missing Carrot Cake and The Case of the Poached Egg. Date and time of in-person author visit or Skype visit to be mutually-agreed upon.
Robin was a practicing attorney and legal editor, but she now prefers to write about witches, mice, pigs, and peacocks. She’s the author of The Case of the Missing Carrot Cake and The Case of the Poached Egg in the Wilcox & Griswold Mystery Series (Creston Books), Hildie Bitterpickles Needs Her Sleep (Creston Books), and No Peacocks! (Sky Pony Press), which flies onto bookshelves in 2018. Cheryl Klein is the editorial director at Lee and Low Books. She is also the author of The Magic Words:  Writing Great Books for Children and Young Adults (W. W. Norton) and Second Sight: An Editor’s Talks on Writing, Revising, and Publishing Books for Children and Young Adults (self-published). Prior to her work at Lee and Low, she spent sixteen years at Arthur A. Levine Books/Scholastic, where she published a wide array of acclaimed titles for children, teenagers, and discerning adults, and served as the continuity editor for the last two books of the Harry Potter series. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, and can be found online here and as @chavelaque.

Hannah Barnaby is a former children’s book editor and bookseller, and was the first-ever Children’s Writer-in-Residence at the Boston Public Library. She is a graduate of Simmons College and Vermont College of Fine Arts, and an experienced creative writing instructor. Hannah is offering a picture book manuscript critique and signed copies of her 2017 picture books, BAD GUY (S&S) and GARCIA & COLETTE GO EXPLORING (Putnam).
Kate O’Sullivan is a senior editor at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. She edits picture books, MG, YA, and nonfiction, and welcomes a wide variety of approaches. She has worked with award-winning and best-selling authors Deborah Underwood, Sy Montgomery, Don Brown, and R.L. LaFevers, among others.
