Anne Marie Pace and her agent Linda Pratt of the Wernick and Pratt Agency are offering a tag-team critique of a picture book manuscript.  The winner will send Anne Marie a picture book manuscript within 30 days of the end of the auction. Anne Marie will provide an in-depth critique.  After she has returned the manuscript and critique to its author, the author has 30 days to revise the manuscript, at which time the manuscript can be submitted to agent Linda Pratt, who will review the manuscript and send a personal response.  (Wernick and Pratt generally has a no-response policy.) Please note that this critique is offered for a picture book manuscript only, not illustrations or dummy.

SCBWI Midsouth is donating tuition for one lucky writer or illustrator to attend its upcoming fall conference themed Teamwork Makes a Dream Work! in beautiful Nashville, TN.  Festivities will begin Friday, September 29th, at the Cool Springs Embassy Suites with a Dessert and Autograph Party.  Then on Saturday and Sunday, a stellar faculty of 18 agents, editors, authors and illustrators will present a variety of sessions about the kidlit journey.  The information, inspiration, and encouragement from this experience will be priceless! You do not need to be a member of SCBWI to bid on this item, nor do you need to live in Kentucky or Tennessee. Erin Teagan is offering 5 signed copies of her middle grade novel, The Friendship Experiment, plus a two-part skype science session called Putrid Petri Dishes:

Using the scientific method, we will run an experiment together as a group. Erin will send you all supplies needed for this activity! (Skype session #1, 45 minutes). Where is the dirtiest, most putrid, place in your classroom? Is it the floor? The teacher’s desk? Your own hands? We will make predictions and swab different areas of the classroom. After watching the bacteria and fungus grow on petri dishes for a few days, we’ll meet again for a short skype session to share and talk about the results. Best for 2nd through 6th grade classrooms.

Erin is the author of The Friendship Experiment (HMH, 2016) and has three books coming out with American Girl in 2018. Erin worked in science before becoming a writer.
